OUR STORY & FOUNDEREVA CHAN, a founding principal, is a retired banking executive with 20 years of finance experience, now fully immersed in the nonprofit sector. As one of the founding members of the New York based nonprofit Youth Construct, Eva played a pivotal role in shaping the organization, developing fund raising strategy and implementing key administrative systems and processes for the organization, growing it to $500,000 annual revenue within four years.
Having recently relocated to Utah, Eva seeks to support local organizations, applying her background in financial analysis, governance, data management, marketing, and digital engagement to enhance impact and efficiency these organizations. Eva spends her leisure time hiking, skiing, bird watching, gardening, and developing vegan recipes. She also loves to read, swim, workout, and play the piano. |
Eva's Recent Nonprofit experience - Youth construct 2020-2024
”During the start-up phase at Youth Construct, I developed the governance framework and implemented associated board meetings and subcommittees. In the process, I authored 15+ policies and numerous associated process documents. I was also tasked to implement key administrative systems, including accounting, financial projection, and donor management. I also spearheaded our fundraising strategy helping to articulate our mission and our differentiating factors on our website, presentations, pamphlets, grant application material, and social media.
On an on-going basis, I led the financial strategy for the organization, chairing the Finance Committee to approve financial statements, perform annual budget projection, and design fiscal controls. In this role, I actively supported fund raising efforts such as grant application and donors engagement. Apart from Finance, I was also heavily involved in the Human Resource processes, leading recruitment efforts of senior staff and establishing processes for on-boarding, performance evaluation, background checks, and payroll management. In general, I embrace an 'all-hands-on-deck' approach, so I readily took on a wide range of other activities such as data management, fund raising, grant writing, and project management as needed.”
